Hanson College







				

As a former member of the marketing team at Hanson College, my responsibilities as a web developer entailed the design and programming of the institution’s websites, covering both its Ontario and British Columbia campuses. The primary objective of the website was to present the college’s programs in a user-friendly manner while also facilitating access to pertinent information for prospective students. To achieve this goal, I employed a modern and sleek design that showcases the various programs offered by the college. Additionally, the homepage incorporates multimedia elements such as images, videos, and SVG animations to capture the viewers’ attention. Navigation is streamlined with a menu located at the top of the page that enables users to easily locate their desired content. The use of whitespace and concise text further contributes to the website’s overall professional and polished appearance.

The websites were crafted using WordPress CMS and the Elementor Pro building platform, offering the ability to create, edit, and manage content with ease, both in collaboration with and independent of my services as a web developer. Furthermore, the websites are responsive, adapting their layout and design to suit various screen sizes, including those of mobile devices and tablets. In the present-day mobile-first landscape, this is a crucial aspect since an increasing number of individuals access websites via smartphones. An additional noteworthy feature of the web development implemented for the Hanson College websites is the incorporation of search engine optimization (SEO) strategies. To ensure optimal SEO practices, Yoast SEO was utilized, bolstering the visibility of the college’s websites on search engine results pages (SERPs) and potentially augmenting the website’s traffic and visibility. Lastly the websites has been integrated with Agile CRM (Customer Relationship Management), which records student engagement and captures their responses and form submissions. This feature is particularly useful for the Student Services department as it enables them to manage student interactions and enhance their overall experience with the college.

In addition to my role in designing and developing the Hanson College websites, I served as an integral member of the marketing team. Within this capacity, I contributed to various initiatives, including but not limited to the creation of posters and graphics for social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, video editing for platforms such as YouTube, the addition of subtitles to videos, generation of video thumbnails, and editing of internal documents and presentations. These multifaceted contributions were essential in bolstering the college’s branding efforts and enhancing its overall marketing strategy.
